Malsfeld – In collaboration with two partner companies, Dr. Schumacher GmbH has secured 1st place in the German Packaging Award in the Sustainability category. Presented annually by the German Packaging Institute, this award honors the most innovative product ideas and solutions in the packaging industry. This year, a 27-member expert jury selected a total of 41 winners from nearly 250 entries across 13 countries. The judging process spanned all industries and materials, across ten different categories.
The Importance of Sustainable Packaging
Dr. Schumacher GmbH, together with two supply partners, submitted its “Clean Up” multi-purpose wet wipes featuring 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) film. The award-winning packaging is made from recycled beverage packaging materials, which are processed to the extent that they can be reused as R-LDPE (Recycled Low-Density Polyethylene) in flexible packaging. This new packaging meets the highest standards of functionality and product protection—without compromising environmental compatibility or hygiene.
Key evaluation criteria included recyclability and the use of recycled materials in the packaging. A decisive factor in the development was the creation and application of the technical infrastructure needed to turn all components into a successful finished product.
As a leading European wet wipe specialist based in Northern Hesse, Dr. Schumacher once again demonstrates the value of innovative product development. Packaging solutions like this help conserve resources in the long term and reduce packaging waste. The circular use of resources is thus further optimized. By adopting this forward-looking, sustainable material, Dr. Schumacher continues to minimize its ecological footprint and contributes significantly to reducing environmental impact.
