Magnet\u0131c Pulleys are widely used in belt conveyors for the continuous and automatic separation of ferromagnetic particles such as iron or steel, and even weakly magnetic particles (such as particles from machined stainless steel) from coarse to fine materials. As shown in the figure, Ferromagnetic and anti-ferromagnetic material (Fe and weak magnetics) enters the magnetic field of the drum, the iron is magnetised and held to the belt until it reaches the bottom, out of the magnetic field and discharged separately. The cleaned, non-magnetic material is discharged through the drum in a normal orbit.<\/p>\n
Magnetic Drums are manufactured from Ferrite magnets if the ferromagnetic material to be separated has high magnetic sensitivity and from Neodymium magnets if it has low magnetic sensitivity.<\/p>\n
Standard Magnetic Drum models also use axially polarized magnets. Radial (diametrically) polarized magnets are preferred for the separation of weak ferromagnetic particles with fine grain size. Here, it is important for the efficiency of the separation that the product is finely fed.<\/p>\n
